Benefits of Planning your Funeral While You’re Still Alive

1/23/2018

Speaking about death is never easy so most people try to avoid it as much as they can. While this is understandable, we at Family-Funeral & Cremation, encourage people to consider the benefits of planning their funeral in advance. This option is offered by almost every funeral home and can help both the elderly or ill individual and their family. Here are some of the benefits of planning the funeral in advance:

1. Your wishes are taken into consideration
One of the biggest benefits of pre-planning is the fact that your funeral and memorial services happen according to your wishes. For example, some individuals want to be cremated rather than buried and that can go against the family’s wishes. By pre-planning the funeral, you can be certain that your wishes are carried out.

2. Pre-planning helps the loved ones grieve
Loved ones are forced to interrupt their grieving time to organize the funeral, which can delay their own healing and cause them a considerable amount of stress. Pre-planning removes this burden so family members can focus on their grief instead of worrying about the preparations. Pre-planning funerals also happen very quickly so there are no delays after death.

3. Financial relief
Pre-planning the funeral gives the loved ones left behind some financial relief. All the funeral expenses are paid in advance so the family members don’t have to worry about abrupt and last-minute costs of arranging the service. Arranging the funeral in advance can also help people save money as they’re protected from a future rise in cost of the service. If you book a funeral at a good rate, the cost is locked in.

Family-Funeral & Cremation in Pensacola, FL has direct cremation starting at $995.00. Direct burials starting at $1,495.00

Thank you so much for the information about how preplanning the funeral before you go helps your loved ones not have such a burden on top of the loss and can grieve. My grandpa is looking into doing this and I think it's a good idea, as much as I don't want to think about losing him. I really appreciate what you said about how the funeral preplanning doesn't take much time and can remove stress from everyone you love in the event.

I really love how you said that a funeral service that has been preplanned will help relieve a bit of stress and financial strain on your family. My parents are both getting pretty close to kicking the bucket and paying for two funerals would be pretty hard on my siblings and me. We'll have to see if they would be willing to prepay for everything so we don't have to worry about it.

Well! I’ve been looking into this at the request of my parents. I think it’s best not to pre-pay, but to leave instructions about what you want so loved ones will be able to take care of it.

My aunt was diagnosed with a terminal disease and she wants to plan her funeral. It was mentioned here that pre-planning will help the loved ones grieve. Moreover, it will provide financial relief for the whole family.

My grandpa is extremely sick and my parents are thinking about starting to plan the funeral now so I am glad that I found this article. You make a great point that one of the biggest benefits is that the funeral services will happen according to your wishes and that my grandpa has the chance right now to say how he wants to program to go. Also, it makes sense that planning ahead will provide financial relief so that there are not last-minute costs that create more stress during the grieving process.

I like how you talked about how pre planning the funeral can help with grieving. The last thing you want is to get left with a lot of financial burden during this time. It can only add to the stress, so planning is key.

These are all great reasons to plan your own funeral. My husband and I have talked about what we want at our funerals, but we haven't put anything into action in any way. We both really prefer the idea of cremation, but like you said that can go against a family's wishes. My family has always gone with a traditional burial, so this would be a change for them. Planning it our myself might make things easier when the time comes.

I like the idea of pre-planning the funeral so that loved ones can grieve and not have to plan anything. I think that my grandmother would love that idea, so I will recommend we try that. Thank you for your helpful information on planning a funeral.

I liked what you said about this option providing financial relief since it will all be paid in advance. My grandma has been thinking about what she would like for her funeral when she passes, but hasn't set any decisions in stone quite yet. I think that it would be really smart for her to consider this route since it would leave less for everyone to worry about later.

It's really great to hear that my wishes are taken into consideration when planning for a funeral. It would be amazing if I had a statue of myself taking a selfie or something like that on my gravestone. Hopefully, my family would understand and respect my wishes and then maybe I won't haunt them once I'm dead.

My husband and I are thinking about planning our burial and funeral in advance so that our kids will not have to worry about it in the future, so I am glad that I found this article. You make a great point that pre-planning will help your loved ones to grieve because they won't have to worry about organizing the funeral. I want my family to avoid any unnecessary stress, so planning in advance gives me peace of mind.

Preplanning means your last wishes will be heard right? Like you said you can decide on things like cremation or burial that way. I don't want my funeral to be a burden on my family so I'd opt for cremation.

I really like your tip to pre-plan your funeral to make sure that all of your wishes are taken into account, especially your example about being cremated. My father really wants to be cremated since he is a very environmentally conscious man. I will be sure to suggest to him that he pre-plans his funeral to avoid any confusion in his cremation process!

It's nice that you talked about funeral planning while we're still alive. When you plan your own funeral, you can have the memorial service happen according to how you want it. This will also help lessen the burden of your loved ones. When the time comes, I would consider planning ahead and getting help from a funeral home.

Thanks for pointing out that pre-planning your funeral will keep loved ones from having to interrupt their grieving to plan the funeral. After a recent hospitalization, I've been giving a lot of thought to my end-of-life plans. It sounds like a good idea to remove that burden from my family, so I'll definitely consider pre-planning my funeral.

I never really thought about how pre-planning my funeral service could help my loved ones heal instead of plan it for me. I will have to talk to a funeral home and start planning. I want the best for all my family, so they can continue to live good lives.
