Samantha Smith (Sam Shaw) was born on January 26, 1974.  Sadly, her sunset on March 31, 2022.

Sam was preceded in death by her mother and father, Florence and Earl Shaw and oldest sister, Mattie Campbell.

Sam leaves behind four children that she devoted her life to. Loving and caring about.  Her legacy is Freddie Hough III (Shae), Jequon Hough, Diante Smith, Sa'Miracle Hough, and A'Miyah Miles.  She was also a wonderful grandmother to TaNala and Tyrese Grimes.

Samantha also leaves to cherish her memory, four sisters, Sheila Shaw, Diane Dubose (Ishmun), Rhonda Rosado, Floretha Shaw; and brother, Earl Shaw Jr.

Samantha's memory will live forever in the hearts and minds of her many nieces and nephews; aunts, Guertrude Campbell and Rose Shaw; uncles, Clarence Campbell, Willie Campbell, and Issac Williams and various other family and friends.

alfred william slovenz (bill)

Alfred William Slovenz (Bill), 79, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022.  He was born in Washington, D.C. in March, 1943 to Alfred R. Slovenz and Madeliene N. Slovenz.

Bill graduated from Oak Ridge Military Academy and went on to serve in the U.S. Army for twenty years.  He served multiple tours in Vietnam and Korea and achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3).  Upon retirement from the military he worked in multiple prestigious positions for the Nation.  In his free time, Bill enjoyed antiquing, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Slovenz of Fairfax, VA; daughter, Monica Slovenz of Fairfax, VA; son, Mark Slovenz and wife Joyce Slovenz of Sterling, VA; and partner, Mary Ellen Lithicum of Gulf Breeze, FL.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Madeliene Slovenz.

Cheryl Cross Wyren went to be with her Lord on March 29, 2022.  She was born in Alexandria, Louisiana to W.R. "Buddy" Cross and Nancy Holladay  Cross.  She moved to Destin, FL at an early age where she met and married Gary Wyren.  Cheryl was a graduate of Fort Walton Beach High School and resident of Mary Esther, FL.  She was a long time employee for the City of Destin, a member of the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ, and an avid volunteer in the community.  She is survived by her husband, Gary Wyren; step-daughters, Amanda Dodson (Michael) and Melissa Frye-Cox; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Cross and Susan Cross Garrison (Brian), nephews, nieces and many other loving family members and friends.  

A Celebration of life will be scheduled with her family at a later date in Davenport, AL.

Grace Lorraine Carnello (Carr)  of Mary Esther, Florida (Formally of Wareham, MA) passed away  peacefully at home on March 26, 2022.  Born in Middleborough, MA on September 3, 1928 to Joseph C. Carr and Lorretta M. Carr (Perry).  She was the widow of the late William Benjamin Carnello whom she was married to for 60 years.

She was predeceased in death by brothers, Francis Carr, Gerald Carr, and Raymond Carr; sisters, Adeline Miller, Blanch Gurney, and Edith Kazlauski.  After the passing of her husband Billy, she had a dear friend Ed Savard who she spent lot's of great times with.

Grace is survived by son, Mark A. Carnello and his wife Kimberly M. Carnello of Mary Esther, Florida; grandchildren, William A. Carnello and his wife Sarah of Niceville, Florida, Abby M. Freligh and her husband Shannon of South Paris, Maine, and Joshua A. Carnello and his finance McKayla Houldcroft of Norway, Maine; step-grandsons, Shane P. Byrnes and his fiance Jessie Kendall of Middleborough, MA and Kevan Byrnes of Bridgewater, MA; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Penelope, and Zoey.  She had many nieces and nephews that were dear to her, especially Lori Kazlauski, who cared for her with so much love during her  later years.  Grace absolutely loved her family.

Grace loved the Red Sox and watching Nascar (especially Kyle Busch).  For years she bowled at Lakeville recreation.  She was a avid bingo player.  She spent Friday nights with friends playing bingo.  Grace also loved going for rides with dear friends, Francis Savard and his sister Irene Ferreira.  Francis drove them pretty much anywhere they wanted to go.  She frequented restaurants such as Cranberry Cottage, Apazidis, Vel's, and the Country Whip.  Where everyone knew and loved her.  Gracie always had a kind word and a smile to share.

Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Committal Service at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough, MA, Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10AM.  Celebration of Life immediately following.

William Alan Zylak passed away peacefully after a brief illness at his home in Mary Esther, Florida on March 26, 2022.  William was born on August 7, 1932  in Latrobe, PA to the late Stanley and Mary (nee Stiffler) Zylak.  After serving his country for two years in the US Army he worked for Owens Illinois in Bridgeton, NJ for 28 years followed by 10 years at Gorton Seafood as a maintenance mechanic.  Moving to Florida in 1996 after retirement.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards with friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley and Richard; sisters, Catherine Caviggia and Mildred Hile; and step daughter, Sherrie Lowers.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nina D Zylak (nee Walker); son, William (Janie) Zylak; grandson, Michael Bailey and 5 grandchildren.

Allen Helmuth was born on September 12, 1970, in Miami, FL to his loving mother, Laura Thorough.  They later  moved to Destin, FL where Allen was then known as "Lil Al".  Allen grew up with a passion for music and spent time surfing and skating with his friends.  He raised his two children going to music festivals, riding motorcycles, and challenging them to race  him on his jet skis.

He celebrated meeting the love of his life with a beautiful wedding on July 11, 2020, where he married Sherrie Helmuth.

Allen worked at Eglin Airforce Base where he was the head engineer and supervisor.  To say he was a very talented and passionate engineer would be an understatement.  He loved his job and thought of his co-workers as family.

Allen has many life-long friends that he cherished dearly.  His relationship with  his family was beautiful and unique.  Allen held a strong presence in his family.  He was a role model who worked hard and demonstrated what it meant to be a good man.

Allen is survived by his mother, Laura Thorough; wife, Sherrie Helmuth and her son Kaleb Parker; daughter, Katrina Helmuth; son, Tyler Helmuth and his wife Lia Helmuth.
