Marva Louise Agee Macklin, 80, returned to her heavenly home on Monday, July 20, 2020. She was a devout Christian and member of Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Pensacola.
Marva Agee was born in Century, Florida on February 1, 1940. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1957 where she was a talented member of the girl’s basketball team. Marva would later attend Pensacola Community College. Her 50-year skilled career included work in various administrative positions with business and non-profit organizations located in Detroit, Michigan; Milpitas, California and Pensacola, Florida. She was employed as an accountant with the University of West Florida and also worked as an Escambia County substitute teacher before retiring in 2013.
Marva was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Deacon Frank L. Macklin, Jr. in 1977. Together, they committed to raising a blended family with endurance, discipline and humility. Truly a servant of the Lord, Marva was an unwavering caregiver. She was gracious, generous, energetic, independent and always proclaimed the positive things in life. Marva loved the National Football League and was a super fan of the Chicago Bears. Her joys included fishing, cooking and baking for her family, interior decorating, offering words of encouragement and praise, and singing in her church choir.
Marva is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at rest with her Savior. A family historian and trusted advisor, Marva had an extraordinary and detailed memory of the people, places and things that impacted her family and the world.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; their daughter, Charlotte Macklin; her sons, Rick Tyms (Heather) and Nathaniel Tyms; her daughters, Linda Agee-Fountain, Gloria Tyms-Hood (Gregory), and Karema Tyms-Harris. Marva was very thankful for her long family-tree that included dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of in-laws, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Syd Netters and Margie Agee Horn; her daughter, Jada Tyms; her grandchildren, Tosha Tyms and Peter Harris III and her siblings, Blanche Bailey, Walter Dumas, Joan Gail Dumas and Freddie Nelson Horn.
A Homegoing Celebration is scheduled for Monday, August 3, 2020 at Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church located at 201 West Leonard Street, Pensacola, FL. Family visitation is 10am. Pastor Bernard Yates will be officiating the 11am funeral service.
Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at the church. A private interment service will be held at the Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Naval Air Station.
