Alayne Renea McKay was born on May 23, 1953, to Marvin and Audrey Pearson. She was welcomed to the family by older sisters Maxine, Louise and Nancy, and later all the girls welcomed younger brother, Daniel. They grew up together on the family farm in Forman, ND.

Alayne was confirmed at Norland Lutheran Church in Rutland, ND in 1968 and graduated from Sargent Central High School in Forman in 1971.

She married William Stark in 1972 and had two sons, Jonathan William and Chad Ryan. Their marriage ended after 6 years. In 1979 Alayne married John Charles "Chuck" McKay. He officially adopted Jon and Chad in 1981, shortly after their daughter, Joyelle Marie was born. Son, Kenneth Curtis joined the family a year later. Alayne and Chuck remained married for 18 years.

In 1997, Alayne moved to Sarasota, FL. She graduated from Sarasota Massage School in 1999. She was licensed in both massage therapy and worker's compensation insurance. During this time, she began dating Robert McClure. In 2020, Alayne and Rob retired to Pace, FL. She and Rob were together for 28 years before she passed away on May 28, 2026, just after her 73rd birthday. 

Throughout her years, Alayne traveled often and lived in many places. She loved gardening, golfing and soaking up the Florida sunshine. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, and searching for hidden treasures at yard sales on the weekends. Alayne was a strong, compassionate, woman who was immensely proud of her family and always encouraged those around her. She would pick up the phone to offer a kind word or a kick in the pants (whichever the situation called for) and wouldn't hesitate to uproot her life for months on end to support those she loved. Alayne adored butterflies and yellow roses and will be missed by all who knew her.

Alayne is survived by long-time significant other, Rob McClure; her children, Chad McKay (Christine), Joyelle Threinen (Scott), Kenneth McKay (Jessie); siblings Louise Hauger and Daniel Pearson (Trish); 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, as well as Rob's 2 children and 4 grandchildren, whom she claimed as her own; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Preceding Alayne in death are her parents, two older sisters, and her eldest son.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Forman City Hall, Forman, ND. Lunch will be provided afterwards. All are welcome.
