HOUSE, Annie Elaine (Maiden Darby) affectionately known as “Maw”, age 78, a resident of Marquez, Texas (but always considered Pensacola Florida her home) passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026 at 3:31 pm surrounded by her “people” including her 5 children.

She was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, and a fiercely independent woman who lived life on her own terms. She found joy in the simple pleasures—taking trips to H.E.B., treating herself to getting her nails done, and spending countless hours on her front porch, where she could often be found talking with family and friends, whether on the phone or visiting in person. Her porch was more than just a place to sit; it was where laughter was shared, stories were told, and lasting memories were made. She treasured the relationships she built throughout her life and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always and deeply missed. 

Every summer she looked forward to her annual Pensacola trip where she spent five weeks with her cousin and running buddy Janet Thornhill (Maiden: Hinote) and spending time with her extended family.

She maintained a powerful and personal relationship with God, trusting his guidance and will through every step of her life.

She was preceded in death her father Dovard Darby, mother Bernice Darby (maiden: Hinote), and her two brothers Roy and James Darby. She is survived by her four legged companion Zoey, her five children Jesse House, Susan Culver Knox, James House, Dale House, and Natasha Taylor and their extensive families including numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Celebration of life will be held on June 30, 2026 at Scenic Hills Church of Christ in Pensacola Florida at 6:30pm.
