Barbara Rineberg Obituary

Barbara Lee Oliver Rineberg, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026.

Born on February 13, 1932, in Mattoon, Illinois, Barbara spent her early adult life traveling throughout the country as the devoted wife of a United States Marine. Together, she and her beloved husband, Harold Steven Rineberg (August 11, 1933 – May 23, 2014), raised their family while living in many places before eventually settling in California. After Harold’s passing, Barbara moved in with her daughter in Florida.

In her forties, with remarkable determination, Barbara returned to school and became a nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others with compassion and grace.

Barbara was a faithful Roman Catholic. In recent years, she deepened her faith by completing the Catechism in a Year and the Bible in a Year through Father Mike Schmitz’s programs on YouTube. In accordance with her wishes, she received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick shortly before her passing.

She was a voracious reader and an accomplished oil painter, finding great joy and expression in books and art throughout her life.

She is now reunited with her beloved husband and with two of their four children, Stephen Rineberg (September 7, 1958 – July 5, 2021) and Gregory Rineberg (March 31, 1961 – March 19, 2017).

Barbara is survived by 2 of her 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren:

Stephanie Beard (husband Martin Beard) and their son Colin Gregory;

Geoffrey Rineberg (wife Jutta Rineberg), and their children:

– Christine Feher (husband Mike Feher) and their children Mayzie and Guy;

– Nick Rineberg (wife Erin Rineberg) and their daughter Rose.

She is also survived by the family of her late sons:

From Stephen Rineberg:

– Daughter Alexandra Sapstein and her daughter Summer Rhodes.

From Gregory Rineberg (wife Arlene Rineberg):

– Daughter Sawyer Angel (husband Shawn Angel);

– Daughter Chesney Roodzant (husband Vance Roodzant) and their children Holland Paige and Wyatt Gregory.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered on faith, family, creativity, and service. She will be remembered for her resilience, her gentle spirit, her love of learning, and the deep love she shared with all who knew her.
