Brenda Joyce Leger, a woman of profound faith, boundless creativity, and an unforgettable spirit,
passed into the arms of Jesus on May 25, 2026. Born in Tampa, Florida, on January 22, 1953, Brenda
lived a life defined by her love for her family, her devotion to her faith, and her ability to bring warmth
and beauty into the world around her.
Brenda truly never met a stranger. To know her was to know a woman who was beautifully feisty,
fiercely independent, and wonderfully strong-willed. Her determination was unmatched—some might
even call it stubborn—but it was that exact resilience that made her the rock of her family. She was
incredibly resourceful and creative, possessing a rare gift: she could turn any house into a true,
welcoming home, no matter the square footage.
A natural host, Brenda loved opening her doors and welcoming people into her life. When she
wasn't hosting, she could almost always be found outside, pouring her love and energy into working on
the flower beds around her home, creating spaces as vibrant and full of life as she was.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, father Maurice Phillips (and his wife Carolyn) and
mother Doris Wingard (and her husband Pete); her brothers, Jerry Phillips and Michael Phillips; and her
two beloved sons, Christopher Bell and William "Billy" Lisenby.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is survived by her devoted husband, Melvin
Leger; her son, Kenneth "Kenny" Bell; and her daughter, Candy Fullerton, along with Candy's husband,
Drew. She is also survived by her cherished "sisters-in-love," Martha Phillips and Shirley Phillips, as
well as a beautiful multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear friends who will miss her
deeply.
Services will be held at Woodbine Church, 5200 Woodbine Road, Pace FL on Friday, May 29, 2026. Visitation begins at 10 AM with an11AM service directly after. There will also be a small family reception following service.
