Catherine Warfield Obituary

Catherine Prestwood Warfield July 30 - 1955 January 16, 2026

“O muse! Sing in me, and through me tell the story of that woman skilled in all the ways of contending…a wonder, harried for years on end.” Homer’s The Odessey

When a force of nature becomes heaven’s newest angel, we look to all of the beautiful things she swept into the room when she entered. She led with humor; she followed with the fierce determination of the Phoenix. She delivered the passion of and was the earthly embodiment of Matthew 25; 34-40. And she ended with love, pure love. Not the kind that keeps records. Not the kind that requires payment back. But the purest form of Love. The love required by Christ in his two charges to mankind; Love your God with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbors as yourself. It was the purest of love.

Catherine Prestwood Warfield was born in Corona, California, July 30th, 1955, the oldest child and only daughter of Willard Walter Warfield and Catherine 'Renie' Frances (nee) Smith Warfield. She was the first of five children. Followed soon by Willard Richard (Bud), James Austin, Franklin Dillon, and John Snyder (Skeeter).

She is survived by her daughter Ann Renee Gilkey and husband (Scott), grandchildren Liberty Grace Gilkey and Noah Woodrow Gilkey, brothers Franklin Warfield and wife (Wanda), John "Skeeter" Warfield and wife (Taye), niece Ryan Danielle 'Dani' Chambers and her children Charli Brooke Chambers and Chance Canyon Chambers, and nephew Franklin Warfield. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Denise Warfield, niece Jamie Warfield and nephew Daniel Warfield (Brittany), and their children, Leland Vance and James Bud. She is survived by her cousins Nancy Warfield, Lisa Markham, Paula Beegle, Walter Jones and copious Duvall and Brown cousins. She left behind so many special friends, especially her dearest friends: Joanne Carney, Cindy Leavel, Robin Toomer, and Bobbie Valdez.

Cat was employed in many different industries over the course of her life from construction to customer service but was best known for her benevolent work. She hosted many lawn mower races, and wiener dog races to raise money for individuals in need but was especially known for her support of Heavenly Blessings Ministry. She hosted her first Blankets for the Homeless event in 1992 and continued on for the next 33 years. She closed the event this past November telling us, “You can’t help everybody, but everybody can help somebody”.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday January 30th, at 5:00pm at St. John the Evangelist, at 303 S. Navy Blvd., Pensacola, FL, by her friend Fr. John Licari. Her passion was helping the poor and downtrodden and adopting every stray dog that she could house. In lieu of cards and flowers please make a contribution to Heavenly Blessings Ministry, PO Box 16187, Pensacola, FL 32507.
