Elizabeth “Sue” Olson was born on March 25, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Charles Brian and Ruby Lois (Zea) Crider. She spent her early years in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Port Arthur, Texas, before moving with her family to Huxley, Iowa, where she was raised alongside her brothers Bud, Mike, and Kenny.

It was in Iowa that she met the love of her life, Ronald Dale Olson. Sue and Ron were united in marriage on November 8, 1975, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, Iowa, and together shared 50 years of marriage marked by faith, devotion, and unwavering commitment to family, celebrating this milestone in November 2025.

Together, they raised two children: Ronald Casey Olson and Kristina Dawn Lewis.

Sue and Ron made their home in rural Jewell, Iowa, where they raised their family on a small farm. Through hard work and determination, they remodeled and built much of their home by hand, creating a place that was always filled with warmth, hospitality, and lasting memories.

Sue worked for Show-Dust Bedding, later known as Westwind Logistics, where she built a meaningful and dedicated career. Her coworkers became like family to her, and she deeply valued the relationships she formed throughout her years of work.

Sue had a gift for bringing people together. She loved hosting gatherings of all kinds, filling her home with laughter, celebration, and a welcoming spirit that made everyone feel like they belonged.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Kacy, Cameron, Trent, Ruby, and Jade. She cherished each of them deeply and delighted in every moment spent loving, encouraging, and spoiling them.

Sue was a three time cancer survivor, facing each season of life with courage, grace, and steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In retirement, Sue and Ron spent many winters as snowbirds in Florida’s Panhandle before eventually making it their permanent home. Sue treasured her family, her church community, and every opportunity to be surrounded by those she loved.

Sue was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith following her marriage and remained a faithful member throughout her life. She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa, and later Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where she participated in Bible study and fellowship.

Cherishing Sue’s memory are her husband of 50 years, Ronald Olson; her children, Ronald Casey (Amber) Olson and Kristina Dawn (Mike) Lewis; her grandchildren, Kacy, Cameron, Trent, Ruby, and Jade; her brothers, Bud and Kenny; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her deeply.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Brian and Ruby Lois (Zea) Crider; her stepfather, Dale Crider; her brother, Mike Crider; her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Bill Jenkins; her nephew, Jeffrey Crider; her nieces, Emily Crider and Victoria Crider; and her beloved great-nieces, Emma Moreno and Tyanna Boston.

A memorial service for Sue will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
