Ernest Baysinger, 86, passed away at his home in Pensacola, Florida on Friday, January 2, 2026 . Ernie was born and raised in Emporia where he attended Emporia High School. He left home to join the U.S. Navy. After military service he enjoyed a long career in the electronics industry with RCA and later Ford Aerospace. Along the way, he married Dorothy and they raised four children.
His career took him and his family to Micronesia and the United Kingdom. Despite his world travels, he never forgot his roots as he faithfully attended his high school reunions. His children never let him forget either, they saddled him with the nickname “Bubba” and it stuck. Ernie was a great athlete in his day, playing on the football and tennis teams in high school. Later in life, he took up scuba diving and developed a life-long passion for square dancing.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Dorothy.
He is survived by his children; David, Gary (Carrie), Jeanne (Bob), and Amy; his partner Linda, his brothers; Kenny, Alby, and Tommy, and his sister Mary, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was a good man who brought joy to those around him.
He will be missed.”
