Joseph Herbert Ellis, Sr., 84, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on April 9, 2026.
Born on January 25, 1942, Joseph lived a life marked by dedication, service, and craftsmanship. He proudly served 22 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief Electronics Technician (ET) after many years of honorable service. Following his military career, he continued his work with General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, where he helped build submarines critical to the nation’s defense.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Georgina “Gina” Ellis; his parents, Mona Ellis and Gerald Ellis; his brother, David Ellis; his sister, Roxanne Ellis; his sister-in-law, Terry Ellis; and his dear friend, James Johnson.
He is survived by his sister, Claire Pelotte, and his brother-in-law, Tom Pelotte; his brother, Gary Ellis; and his sisters-in-law, Marie Ellis and Margo Ellis.
He leaves behind his four sons: Richard Ellis; Jimmy Ellis; Gerald Ellis; and Joseph Ellis, Jr., along with their spouses, Michele Ellis, Michaela Ellis, and Melissa Ellis.
Joseph was a proud grandfather to David Ellis, Madalyn Milsteen, Nicholas Ellis, Alex Ellis, and Frederick Ellis.
He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he dearly cared for.
He will also be deeply missed by his lifelong friends, Josephine Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Paul Johnson, and Karen Johnson.
Joseph will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his devotion to his country, and the love he had for his family and friends.
