Lamar Carpenter, 75, of Shalimar, FL passed away peacefully on May 06, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was a loving father and grandfather, a hard-working man who never met a stranger and he loved to joke and tease with everyone around him.

Lamar was born on October 14, 1950, in Milligan, FL. He was a Vietnam Vet (Army). Lamar worked as a Master Commercial Plumber for over 20 years and in his later years drove a Transit Bus for Okaloosa County. He loved to fish in the rivers around Crestview, FL. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, eating the fresh water brim he caught, drinking a cold one with close friends and being outdoors.

He is survived by his life partner, Jenny Sumblin, his daughter Cindy Worley (Noel Ball), three grandchildren who he loved and was very proud of, Taylor Brown, Carol Brown and Logan Robison, and a brother Richard Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ouida Thompson.

There will not be a formal service, but the family encourages friends and family to celebrate Lamar’s life and their memories of him in their own way.

Lamar will be deeply missed by those that knew him. “To live in hearts, we leave behind is not to die”.
