Leola Massey Obituary

 Leola Massey
September 17, 1932 – February 18, 2026
With deep love and profound sadness, the family of Leola Massey announces her peaceful passing on February 18, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on September 17, 1932, Leola lived a long, meaningful life filled with devotion, sacrifice, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone blessed to know her.
Leola was the cherished daughter of Fanny Massey of Greenville, Alabama, and Johnny Massey. She was one of three beloved sisters: Cora Allen and Jimmy Lee Rudolph (deceased). From an early age, she learned to work hard, to care deeply, and to place family and faith at the center of her life.
A phenomenal woman in every sense, Leola dedicated her life to raising, protecting, and supporting her family. She not only raised her own children—she lovingly helped raise her grandchildren and became a mother figure to all who needed her. Her home, her presence, and her heart were places of comfort and safety. She gave love freely and fiercely, teaching through her actions what it means to stand strong, to keep going, and to love without limits.
Leola faced more pain and loss than most should ever have to bear. She survived the heartbreak of losing children and the sorrow of seeing her son unjustly incarcerated, yet through it all she remained unbroken. Her strength was steady and deeply rooted, and her faith and determination carried her family through some of life’s hardest storms.
Leola leaves behind her loving children: Michael Massey, Anthony West, Sheila Ammons, and Jacqueline West. She is preceded in death by her beloved children Phyllis Massey and William Isaac West Jr. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Issac Massey, Dallas West, Kenneth West, Natalie West, Jimeka Youngblood, Keyshy West, Xavier Ammons, Syrus Ammons, and Kella West, along with many great‑grandchildren who adored her and were blessed to experience her gentle, guiding love.
Leola’s life was a testimony of unconditional love, perseverance, and courage. She was perfectly imperfect—strong, witty, honest, nurturing, and steadfast. Her wisdom, laughter, stubborn strength, and warm presence will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. Though her body is at rest, the spirit of Leola Massey will continue to guide her family for generations to come. She leaves behind a legacy of love that can never be replaced and a family that will honor her always.
Bible Verse
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
A Poem for Grandma Leola
Your hands were soft but strong as stone,
A shelter we could call our own.
You held our worries, calmed our fears,
And wiped away our hardest tears.
You taught us how to laugh and pray,
To stand back up, to find our way.
Though now you rest in heaven’s light,
Your love still warms our hearts at night.
So this is not a last goodbye,
But “see you later” by and by.
Until we meet at God’s front door,
We’ll carry you forevermore.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
