Margaret Milardo Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret Cascone Cantrell Milardo, 80, who left this world peacefully on June 4, 2026, surrounded by family who adored her. My mother was a cherished mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and the absence of her gentle presence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Terrence Milardo. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Gonzalez, and her loving husband, Reinaldo Gonzalez, of Pace, FL. and her son, Rodney Cantrell, and his partner, Cindi Denbow, also of Pace, FL. She leaves behind her three treasured grandchildren—Marcus Gonzalez, Kevin Cantrell, and Caleb Cantrell—who brought her endless joy.
She is also survived by her sister, Marie Bonola (Armand Bonola); her brothers, Frank Cascone and Michael Cascone; her nephews, Tom Bonola (Suzie Bonola), Armand Bonola (Christina Bonola), Michael Bonola (Angela Bonola), and her niece, Deborah Bonola along with many great-nieces, great-great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, including those she lovingly called “the kids,” Pat and Richard Marchiando, and countless others whose lives were brightened by her unconditional love.
Born on February 20, 1946, in Hartford, CT, to Oneila Stentella and Thomas Cascone, Margaret grew up deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She graduated from Buckley High School in 1964 and went on to pursue nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital, where her compassion touched many lives.
Margaret was a voracious reader, a wonderful cook, and someone who found joy in the simple beauty of life—the beach, crafting, and photography were among her favorite pastimes. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her two children, and later, fate brought her together with Terrence, a drummer she met at a New Year’s Eve party. They have shared 42 amazing years together.
She spent many years working for Cigna before moving to Naples, FL, where she lived for 21 years. During her time there, she served on her condo association’s HOA board and later worked for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, retiring in March 2016. She eventually moved to Pensacola, FL, where she continued to be surrounded by family and love.
Margaret cherished traveling and seeing the world, always eager for new experiences and memories.
We want to give a heartfelt thank you to Vitas Healthcare and her dedicated nurse, Shannon Roberts, for all the care, support and compassion they provided for Margaret along with our family and friends for their love, prayers and support.
A private celebration of her life for family and friends will be held at a later time. In her honor, we kindly ask that donations be made to your local hospice organization, whose compassion and care meant so much to our family.
