Naomi “Nana” Ruth Schultz Hudson passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones and her devoted companion pup, “Baby.”
Nana was born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Shoals and southern Indiana. She lived for a time in Highland, Indiana, and spent most of her life in Twillytown, Alabama. For the past three years, she made her home with her grandchildren, Heather and Jake Hobson, in Pensacola, Florida.
Naomi was the last surviving child—one of eight—of the late James and Viola Schultz.
Nana loved to cook and bake for her family and friends, filling homes with both food and love. She loved the Lord, and heaven gained another angel.
Naomi raised her three children on her own, working hard as a cashier for Bruno’s/FoodMax, where she made many lifelong friends. She also worked as a sitter for several elderly friends and those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, work that brought her great joy and purpose. A gifted cook and baker, she lovingly made countless birthday cakes and cookies over the years.
Naomi was blessed with three children: David Hudson of Alabama; Jeff (Lynn) Hudson of Quinton, Alabama; and Lisa (Dewayne) Hester of Dora, Alabama. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Teresa Hudson.
She was the proud Nana of nine grandchildren:
Christopher (Christy) Hudson, Stephen (Kelli) Hudson, Shanna (Jason) Bohrer, Nikita (Sam) Brooks, Bradly (Allison) Hudson, Matthew (Amber) Hudson, Heather (Jake) Hobson, Tanner Hester, and Emily (Sam Swann) Hester.
Nana was further blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren.
Nana had a special caregiver, Susan Rawls, whom she dearly loved. She also always looked forward to visits from her nurse, Micaila, and her nursing assistant, Virginia.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Susan Rawls, Micaila, Virginia, Jim, and the VITAS Hospice Care Team for the compassionate care given to our momma and Nana.
In accordance with Nana’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Her life will be celebrated gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories, laughter, and memories of our beloved Mom and Nana.
