Norma Jean Fielding, a resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on June 7, 2026 at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents Daisy Merriwether Gurganus and Norman Lind Gurganus, and her sister Jamie Gurganus Lawshee. She is survived by her daughter Ashley Annette Fielding, sisters Linda Gurganus Parker and Carolyn Gurganus O’Gwynn, brother Norman Lind (Bubba) Gurganus Jr., and many extended family members and friends.

Norma Jean was born in 1951 in Eight Mile, Alabama. She attended Mobile College, The University of Montevallo, and Auburn University at Montgomery. She enjoyed working at a number of jobs over the years in both Mobile and Montgomery, but beyond her professional achievements, Norma Jean was defined by her generous spirit and her ability to instantly make a stranger a friend. She made friends wherever her life and career took her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path.

Norma Jean’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Life Care Center, Crowne Healthcare, and Vitas Hospice for going above and beyond to make her final years comfortable, peaceful, and filled with kindness.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Pensacola, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Stroke Association or The American Cancer Society.
