Ronald Eugene Young, Sr, of Navarre, Florida, passed away surrounded by family on April 10, 2026.  

Born on August 3, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM, Ron was the son of Dale and Mary Ann Young.  Some of his fondest childhood memories were of hunting with his father.  He attended the University of New Mexico and went on to serve his country as an Air Force intelligence officer, a role that reflected his sharp mind, discipline, and dedication.  After retiring from the military, he continued his service as a government civilian, carrying the same sense of duty throughout his career.  

He built a life marked by strength, resilience, and a sharp sense of humor, and was known for his honesty and willingness to speak his mind.  He followed current events closely and was never shy about sharing his views with unmistakable conviction.  Those who knew him will remember his stories, inability to pass a yard sale, devotion to the Dallas Cowboys even in the bad years, and that he never met a stranger.  

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his mother Mary Ann; his children, Melissa (Robert) and Ron Jr (Maryann), and by his two grandchildren, Alexander and Elena, of whom he was incredibly proud.  He is also survived by his sister, Karen Page (Steven), and her children Christy and Kevin; and his brother Robert (Johnell) and his children Jenna and Jason.  He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Young, and his partner, Sherri, with whom he shared a meaningful part of his life. 
He will be interred at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held on April 29 at 2 p.m. at 1709 Saroco Road, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563.  Please help us celebrate with your favorite memories of Ron.

Ron will be remembered for his strength, his intellect, and the way he lived life on his own terms.  He leaves behind a lasting impression on those who knew him and a family who will carry his memory forward.
