Ron was born in Albany, Georgia, to Elder Henry Gardner Jr. and Mattie Pearl Shells Gardner. A proud graduate of Dougherty High School's class of 1976, Ron went on to serve his country with honor by joining the US Air Force in 1977. His dedication and strong sense of duty defined both his service and the life he built afterwards. Ron shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Nora, who he met in the summer of 1995. Their love blossomed quickly and they married in June 1996. Ron had a soft spot for his dogs Rocky (deceased) and Lynn (deceased). Lynn could always be found sitting faithfully by his side on the sofa, a constant companion. In his free time, Ron enjoyed playing pool, golfing, fishing, and watching sports on television. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers. He is survived by his wife, Nora Gardner; daughter, Ronnielyn Gardner; two sons Christopher and Jonathan Charles; siblings Glenda Elaine Jones (John), West Memphis, AK; and Henry Gardner III (Bonnie), Vidali, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents Elder Henry Gardner Jr. and Mattie Pearl Shells Gardner; and siblings A.J. Gardner, Atlanta, GA; Brenda Faye Hill, Albany, GA.
