In Loving Memory of Wayne A. Carter

Wayne A. Carter, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and faithful servant of God, passed peacefully into eternal rest on June 4, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on March 22, 1940, Wayne lived a life defined by faith, service, family, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. A man of quiet strength, humility, and integrity, he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Wayne proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. Answering the call to service during a pivotal time in our nation's history, he faithfully fulfilled his duties with honor and distinction. His military service reflected the values that guided his life—duty, sacrifice, commitment, and love of country. Though proud of his service, Wayne was never one to seek recognition, choosing instead to let his actions speak for themselves.

Above all else, Wayne cherished his family. He found his greatest joy in the company of his loved ones, whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones, offering advice, or simply enjoying time together. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was known simply as "Poppey"—a steady source of wisdom, strength, laughter, and unconditional love. The lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the example he set will remain with them always.

A devoted Catholic, Wayne's faith was the foundation of his life. He believed deeply in God's grace, the importance of family, and the value of treating others with kindness, compassion, and respect. His faith sustained him throughout life's challenges and served as a guiding light for his family.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia O. Carter, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

He also leaves behind his loving children, Todd A. Carter and Kimberly C. Carr, and his son-in-law, Darin Carr, who was loved as a son and cherished member of the family.

Wayne was a proud grandfather to Aaron Baisden, Ariane Larson, and Darin Carr Jr.

He is also survived by his grandchildren's spouses, Tory Baisden, Travis Larson, and Kyndal Carr.

Wayne also leaves behind numerous extended family members, friends, neighbors, and fellow veterans whose lives were enriched by his friendship, generosity, and example.

Those who knew Wayne will remember his quiet strength, warm heart, steadfast faith, and willingness to help others. He possessed a rare gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. His life was a testament to the power of humility, service, and devotion to family.

While his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. Though he has departed this earthly life, his spirit lives on through the family he cherished and the values he instilled.

A visitation and celebration of Wayne's life will be held under the care of Family Funeral & Cremation.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church, followed by interment with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest in honor of a life faithfully lived in service to God, family, and country.

Wayne's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time.

Though we grieve his loss, we rejoice in the blessing of having known and loved him.
