William Forest Carpenter—beloved husband, father, grandfather, and affectionately known as “Billbo”—passed away at his home on November 9, 2025, shortly before his 70th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children and their spouses, William and Brandie Carpenter, and Austin and Katelyn McCraw; and his six grandchildren: Liam, Griffin, Ingram, Tristin, Oona, and Lyra.
Born in Alexandria, Louisiana on December 14, 1955, Bill served as a sonar technician in the U.S. Navy before earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana Tech. He worked as a chemical engineer until retirement and was known throughout his life for his faith, generosity, hospitality, and steady commitment to donating blood and serving his church and work communities.
To those who loved him most, Dad was a rare blend of keen intelligence and deep warmth. He laughed easily, sang while working in his woodshop, and delighted in small things—birds, squirrels, little treats saved and brought home just because. He believed deeply in the people around him, especially his children, and gave them confidence, safety, and joy simply by being present.
Though his later years were marked by illness, we choose to remember his life and the love he gave so freely.
Our family will be holding a Celebration of Life to honor and remember William Forest Carpenter—beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
This gathering will reflect who Dad truly was: a man who loved Jesus, good stories, good food, laughter, craftsmanship, curiosity, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. We hope to share memories, music, and time together as we celebrate the life he lived.
