Bettye was born November 12, 1932 in Cordova, Alabama to Claude and Velma Courington. Upon graduation from high school, Bettye, joined the U.S Navy, with her sister Meta. While serving her country, she met the love of her life Frankie E. Jankowski, HMC, USN Ret. Most recently, Bettye has been an esteemed supporter of the H.E.R.
