![]() Stanley LeRoy Morris was called home to be with Our Lord on April 26, 2021. Stanley was born at the old Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, Florida to Delores LeRoy Morris and Stanley Gilbert Morris who preceded him in death. Stanley grew up in Myrtle Grove, Florida at the home of his maternal grandparents, Albert Irving LeRoy, Sr., and Marie Bourgot LeRoy who also preceded him in death. His grandfather taught him to love electronics, the Navy and baking pies. Stanley attended Brown Military Academy in San Diego before entering the Navy and serving aboard the USS Nicholas for four years. After leaving the Navy Stanley began a twenty-year career as a Merchant Seaman. He told many stories about all the ports he visited throughout the world and especially the times taking supplies to Vietnam during the war. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Dee Morris Calloway; a special and devoted niece, Kimberly Calloway Hollinghead (Kenny); grandniece, Mellonie Bennett (Dustin); grandnephews, Heith Fusser (Krystal) and Joseph Garrett, along with nine great-grandnieces and nephews who he delighted in spending time with. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Myrtle Grove Cemetery-57th Avenue and Lillian Highway, Pensacola, Florida 32506. ![]() Athanasia "Sia" Stanton, 96, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Athanasia “Sia” Stanton died peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Sia was born in Mindilogi, Patras, Greece to Giannoula and Nickolas Christodoulopoulos. Sia was sponsored by her family Peter, Panorea and Chris Bithos. She arrived in Pensacola in 1955. After becoming a naturalized citizen, she married her husband Speros Stanton in 1961. Both Sia and Spero came as Greek immigrants and worked hard side by side in the family restaurant business all their life and raised their family. They established the following restaurants: Spero’s Restaurant on Romano Street, The Busy Bee on Fairfield Drive and Bill’s Fine Foods on Barrancas Avenue. Sia and Spero made their work their life. Sia welcomed everyone with her beautiful warm smile and hospitable nature. She was known for her warm greeting and loving smile. To know her was to love her. We will remember Sia as a gentle, kind, patient, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, who inspired kindness and love for all. She was a generous and dedicated individual who loved her family and was passionate about life. She was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Sia is preceded in death by her husband, Speros Stanton of 53 years and her sisters, Sophia Kaffousa, Sotetria Maris, Vasiliki Daramouska, Georgia Zaharopoulou and her brother, Christos Christodoulopoulos. Sia is survived by her daughter, Georgia Stanton and grandson, Christopher Astudillo, many nieces and nephews including favorites Sava and Georgia Varazo, Panayota and Nike Daramouska, Alexios Maris, Maria Bithos-Peterson and Peter Bithos. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:30 AM, followed by the Trisagion and funeral service at 11:00 AM at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1720 West Garden Street, Pensacola, Florida, 32502. ![]() Roger David Calvin, 79, of Pensacola, FL, and a former Quad-City resident, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Marion Calvin; sons, Jim and David Calvin. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joan Calvin; three children, Kathie (Bob) Lanham, Kris Hamilton, Stacy (Danny) Cornwell; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a little brother, Doug (Barb) Calvin. Roger was a car enthusiast. Whether it was tinkering under the hood, doing a custom build, attending a car show, or watching NASCAR, he enjoyed them all. He also loved the outdoors, travelling and spending time with family. His career embraced many of the things he enjoyed. He worked at ALCOA Davenport Works for over 30 years in both mechanical and maintenance supervision roles. After retirement he and Joan relocated to Florida where he took a job with Penske Trucking for several years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation. ![]() Michael Leslie “Woody” Woodruff 04/12/1961 to 04/13/2021 Michael L. Woodruff, 60, of Pensacola, FL., passed away on Monday, March 13, 2021. Michael graduated from Pace High school in 1979. He served 10 years in the U.S. Navy, and worked a variety of construction projects in the NW Florida area. Michael, “Coach Woody”, volunteered as Coach/Manager (many seasons) with Fast Pitch Girls softball at Myrtle Grove Ball Park. He loved his “girls” and was one of the joys of his life. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry “Woody” Woodruff. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Sue Woodruff; his mother, Sharon Woodruff; three children, Don Woodruff, Jessica (Marshall) Schmidt, Meghan (Nick) Purvis; four grandchildren, Noah, Brody, Brantley, and Nick “Jr”; three nephews, Mark (Lyndsey) Woodruff, Jeff Woodruff and Joshua Vanlandingham; niece, Kayla Vanlandingham; two sisters, Teresa Woodruff, and Sheryle (Todd) Vanlandingham; brother, James Woodruff; and grandniece, Willow.
