![]() Fred Henry Freckmann 1937-2017 Fred Freckmann passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at age 80, now enjoying his new body and new mind. Fred had grown up in Chicago after which he attended the United States Naval Academy in 1959. He retired from the Navy in 1982 after serving 25 years flying aircrafts. He was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medals and Gold Stars for his performance in the Vietnam War. Fred then pursued his search for Wisdom and Philosophy. He earned his Master’s Degree and taught at the University of West Florida for many years. He wants you to “Let go and let God flow” and to “Imagine every cell in your body is a happy face – breathe and relax”. Is that why he had the most charming, genuine smile? Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Friederick and Irma, lovely “Tootie” Donna; sister, Elsie and daughter, Kim. He is survived by his daughters, Christina and Michelle; sons, John and Christopher and sister, Bertha. A Committal Service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 1:30pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida. ![]() Ronnie Burnside passed away at his home in Gulf Breeze, Florida on July 17, 2017. Ron was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Wilfred Cecil and Irene (Oldfield) Burnside on May 25, 1938. His family moved to Watseka, Illinois where he attended Watseka Community High School and he fell in love with cheerleader Sharon Barragree. He started his flying career as a crop duster in Larned, Kansas and he and Sharon followed the crops and his love of aviation. Ultimately, he retired as a DC10 Captain for United Airlines. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of 58 years; his brother, Allen (Cindy) of Tucson, AZ; two sons, Scott (Debbie) Burnside of Chesapeake, VA, and James Burnside of Joplin, MO and one daughter, Kathleen Joy of Gulf Breeze, FL; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Kyle, Jesse, Sam, Ella and Tommy; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and extended family, Jeff and Beth Carter and children. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Olga King. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge #497, 661 Pensacola Beach Blvd., Pensacola Beach, FL 32561. Friends are welcome to join his family in the celebration of his life. ![]() Lieutenant Colonel James “Jimbob” Waites, Jr., 65, died peacefully in his Pensacola, Florida home on July 17, 2017. A Marine Corps veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, he later went on to command Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 767 at NAS New Orleans. Lt. Col. Waites was born on March 16, 1952 in Mobile, Alabama to James and Inez Waites. He attended Robertsdale High School and graduated in 1970. He went on to attend the University of South Alabama graduating with a BS degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1974. In 1972, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps on the PLC program and was assigned to the Marine Corps base camp in Lejeune, North Carolina. After graduating from flight school in 1976, he flew CH46 helicopters with HMM161 LTA Air Base Santa Anna, California and HMM 164 in Okinawa, Japan. Col. Waites went on to become a flight instructor at HT-18, NAS Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. He is survived by his sons, James C. Waites, III and Daniel Scout Waites; his four grandchildren, Cole, Clara, Coleman, Major. A visitation will be held at 5:00-7:00pm, Monday, July 24, 2017 and Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Family Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola, Florida with interment at Barrancas National Cemetery. |
