On Friday, August 27, 2021, Clive W. Dutson, devoted husband and father, passed on to Heaven as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident. He was only 33 years young.
Clive’s authentic personality drew everyone in and touched so many lives. His witty and sarcastic humor brought life to any room. If he cracked a joke, it was likely that the entire room would be rolling with laughter. Clive spread joy wherever he went. He was a compassionate and understanding friend to many and loved and accepted everyone. Clive loved his family, friends, and most importantly, God.
Clive’s entire life revolved around his family. Fourteen short years ago, Clive walked into a movie theater in Montana and changed history forever. That’s where he met the love of his life, his soulmate, his wife-Alana, and they immediately became inseparable. Clive and Alana were made for each other and even have the same birthdate (born one year apart). Clive carried around the first note Alana ever gave to him until the day he died. Clive and Alana were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Hannah, in 2012. Hannah was always the apple of Clive’s eye. Clive proudly told everyone about Hannah and all her accomplishments. Even though Hannah got only 8 short years with her Daddy, he taught her so very much about life, love, and God. Clive worked tirelessly to provide for his family, and he always made sure they knew how much he loved them.
Clive’s unconditional love did not stop with family. If you were blessed to be a friend of Clive’s, you know that you weren’t just a friend but that he took you in like family.
Clive loved working with his hands. On top of being an Assistant Manager at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Clive ran his small handyman business, Dutson Property Management, LLC. Clive was always there for his client’s rain or shine, day or night. Clive also enjoyed working on cars, motorcycles, and anything that could be taken apart or put back together. Clive’s other hobbies included golf, swimming, and watching movies and TV. Clive loved taking Hannah to glow-golf and proudly carried around the ticket stub from their first outing.
More than anything else, Clive loved the Lord and was always willing to sit with you and answer any question you’ve ever had about God. Clive was raised in the FLDS Mormon faith, but at 18 he left the religion. At 19, Clive met Alana, was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith, and strived to keep God in his marriage and life. Clive and Alana never argued about God. They stood firm in their faith and his family is comforted to know that Clive is now reaping the rewards of Heaven while waiting for the rest of his family to join him.
Clive leaves behind his wife Alana and daughter Hannah; parents Hyrum and Kristal Dutson; Mother-in-law Rebecca (Linzie); and Father-in-law Greg. Clive also leaves behind many brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, and numerous extended family, as well as an entire world of friends that he considered family.
Clive will be greatly missed by us all. His quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and unconditional love were one of a kind.

Robert “Bobby” Howard Hinton of Pensacola, Florida, left this world on August 23, 2021 at age 68.
He was born on November 13, 1952 in Madison County, Illinois to Howard Bowen Hinton and Patricia Ann Young.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with friends, going to the racetrack, and riding motorcycles. On any given day, you could find Bobby at his favorite restaurant, Smokeys, having lunch with friends. He recently checked off a few items on his bucket list, including vacationing in Hawaii and flying in a vintage World War II airplane. Both brought him great pleasure. Bobby was an Army Veteran serving from 1974 to 1978. After his time in the Army, he had various jobs in Pensacola; however, his favorite was his time spent on the road in his 18-wheeler as owner/operator of Haywire Inc. Trucking. Bobby, to all who knew him, was grumpy and set in his ways, but still loved dearly by his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his two brothers, Jeffrey Lee Hinton, and Richard Dean Hinton; his sister, Karen Michelle Fields; his three nieces, Heather Christine Cato, Ashleigh Lauren Hinton, and Jessica Lacey Hinton; and many special friends including Charles and Beverly Nations.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Bowen Hinton; his mother, Patricia Ann Young; his sister-in-law, Michelle Danley Hinton; his dear friend, Jim “Bo” William Smith; and his beloved pug, Molly.
A service will be held at a later date; the family will provide all additional details upon finalization of Bobby’s service.
Christopher Wayne LeCates, 49, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021.
Mildred Hazel Beck Pugh (Midge) passed away quietly the evening of August 23, 2021, with her sons and a niece by her side. She was 79. Surviving are her two sons: Gregory Michael Pugh and Brian Keith Pugh (Sasha Diane Lay), one sister, Emogene Beck Mitchell, and grandchildren Benjamin Joseph McMillan-Pugh, Michael Daniel McMillan-Pugh, and Halle Feryn Pugh. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bennie Earl Pugh, her parents A.D. and Hazel Spence, a brother Winston Douglas Beck and a sister Evelyn Inez White.
Midge was born on a Friday…. but certainly not last Friday. The date was June 26, 1942, in Enon, Florida. She learned how to be resourceful at an early age simply because it was necessary to do so. Her humble upbringing led her to perform odd jobs including time in the cotton fields to help make ends meet. During high school she met Bennie Earl Pugh at a church function. Bennie returned home that evening and announced to his mother, “tonight I met the girl I’m going to marry.” They married July 24, 1959, despite her father’s best efforts to keep them apart. It seems A.D. did not want to lose his ‘cook’.
Bennie and Midge embarked on a life journey that embraced travel, service, and truly enjoying one another’s company. They were stationed together at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas where they served the US Army (Midge always said Army wives are in the military too!). While in Texas, they welcomed Mike into the world. Following the Army, they returned to the Florida Panhandle and welcomed Keith into the family. After a four-year stint in Jacksonville, Florida, they moved to Thomasville, NC which would be “home” for the rest of their lives. In their spare time, they visited National and State Parks with their family and friends. They traveled all over North Carolina, the United States and foreign countries advancing the work of the Lions Club. They enjoyed bowling, golf, square dancing, playing games and entertaining friends. But importantly, they did all these things together.
Midge spent considerable time being involved and giving back to her community. She was active and engaged in the ministries of Zion United Church of Christ, she worked with Hospice of the Piedmont, she served Meals on Wheels, she was an avid collector of drink can tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Furthermore, she served as Queen Mum for the Classy Lassies Red Hat Society embracing the ideal of being a playful, energetic, and spirited woman. Perhaps she will best be remembered for hosting the annual Christmas morning pancake breakfast for the Midway Forest neighborhood with Bennie.
Her boys will always remember her for the life lessons she taught, including love of God, tenacity, respect for self, taking care of others, and doing what is right.
Finally, it was always ill-advised to tell Midge that she couldn’t accomplish something. She would accept the challenge and that would make her that much more determined to do it! Ask the ladies on her Odd Balls bowling team in the Wednesday morning league, or the ladies she played golf with at Colonial Country Club or the ladies in her card club…. they’ll tell you the same. Midge was a tough competitor who always played by the rules. She did not cut corners. She always did the right things, the right way, for the right reasons.
Midge’s life will be celebrated as she wanted, with no fanfare in a simple graveside service on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Oliver Pugh Cemetery in Molino, Florida. Midge leaves a wonderful legacy of faith, hope, love, and helping others. She may have been small in stature, but she left an immeasurable impact.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any number of organizations she supported: Ronald McDonald House Charities; Zion United Church of Christ, Thomasville, NC; Make-A-Wish of Central and Western North Carolina; Hospice of the Piedmont, High Point, NC; and the North Carolina Lions Foundation.
