![]() Deborah Lynn Corley was born July 18, 1958 in Houston, Texas. From the beginning, Debbie was recognized as special, a “special needs” individual whose smile brought joy to all who met her. Her love was readily available to everyone she met, and she will be lovingly remembered by everyone who came to know her. She passed away on September 25, 2020. As a girl, Debbie lived in the Houston area and attended school at the Pasadena Independent School District. Her parents doted on her, gave her a strong faith, and molded her to be the sweet woman she grew up to be. Debbie has now been reunited in heaven with her mother, Geraldine Corley and her father, John R. (Johnny) Corley; grandparents, Gerald and Mildred George; aunts, Willie Mae Hoffman (Maurice), and June Hodge (Marion) and her beloved sisters, Nancy Fucileand (Stephen), and Barbara Clegg (Beau), who jointly shared responsibility for Debbie for many years. Much of that time they lived in Woodville, Texas, where Debbie had many friends and enjoyed the lovely lakes, tall pine trees, family holidays, and lots of card games. Nancy and Debbie moved to Bastrop, Texas in 2002 and Debbie began attending the day program at Bluebonnet Trails and later Amazin Grace, where she grew in mind and spirit under the direction of a caring staff. Her favorite pastimes were weekly bowling, all-night sleepovers, monthly dances and summertime pool parties. For more than 15 years she developed lifelong friendships and had wonderful experiences. We will forever be grateful for the community of support. Upon the passing of her sisters, Debbie easily transitioned to the home of her niece, Tina and husband Jim in Bastrop, where they provided her an “apartment” of her own. She thoroughly enjoyed her independence with her pups Lucy and Smokey Jr. She developed her own schedule for chores, cleaning on Monday, laundry on Tuesday and somehow seemed to have the bed made before her feet hit the floor. Debbie especially enjoyed meeting new friends each summer, learning to ride horses, canoe, and zipline at Down Home Ranch Camp in Elgin, Texas, Camp Summit in North Texas and Camp ASCCA in Lake Martin, Alabama. Debbie came to understand that she could be an independent agent for herself by travelling to camp, and even flying on her own from Texas to Florida. In 2018, Debbie, Tina and Jim moved to Pensacola, Florida. During her daily dog walks she met all the new neighbors almost overnight. There, she again linked up with a special needs community, Pyramid Inc., an art focused Adult Day Training Program where she developed creative skills in drawing, painting and jewelry-making and was a volunteer and featured artist at Artell Gallery in Pensacola. She was especially proud of riding a public bus across town as she got to know favorite drivers and regular passengers. Anyone who met her would have known through her behavior and actions that Debbie had a strong faith. She cared about the homeless, people less fortunate than herself, and wished that she could do something to help. She always lent a hand to her friends and accepted everyone as if they had no faults. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodville, where she sang in the choir, a member of Wyldwood Baptist Church in Bastrop and attended Northstone Baptist in Pensacola. She is survived by her sweet puppy, Smokey Jr.; brother, Robert Taylor; niece, Tina Fucile (Jim Lewis); niece, Tanya Russo (Michael); niece, Terri Fucile-Sanchez (Joe) and nephew, Andrew Moran; great nieces and nephews include, Stephen J. Fucile, Paul Fucile, Sydney Coffey (Jon), Jeramey Stanford, Christopher Fucile, Emily Fucile-Sanchez; grand nephew and nieces include, Stephen G. Fucile, Kirya, Katherine, Kayla, Kimberly, and Kenneth Stanford and Raegan Coffey. Throughout her life, Debbie’s best friends were her pet canines, Batman, Timmy, Lucy, and Smoky Junior. It takes a village. The members of our family, extended family, friends and neighbors, professionals and volunteers have contributed to make her life as full as possible. We are all better because of her and will hold her in a special place in our hearts and memories. A reception will be held in her honor on Sunday, October 4, 2020, 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the home of Jim Lewis and Tina Fucile in Pensacola. There will be a graveside service on October 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston, Texas where Deborah will be laid to rest with her parents. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Amazin Grace Day Program, 150 Settlement Dr., Suite 8, Bastrop, TX 78602. We are grateful to Theresa Williams and her amazing staff who do the hardest work and provide unlimited love to each and every special client.
