 Esther Lee Martin, 94, of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on May 14, 2019.

Lee was born in Booneville, MS., on April 5, 1925.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Pascal Smith and Zylphia Ann Smith and her husband, Dr. H. T. (Tom) Martin Jr.; brother, James R. Smith; sister, Rachel Smith Broome.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Linda) Martin; daughter, Lory Lee Martin; grandchildren, Michael Martin, Elizabeth (Adam) Brown, Victoria (Nicholas) Franklin, Kirsten (Sean) Snyder, Kailey (Tristan) Alf, Jared Browning; great-grandchildren, Felicity, Emmie, Charlie, Owen and soon to be here, Maverick.

Lee is a graduate of Colorado State University with a B.S. in Home Economics and a Masters Degree from the University of West Florida with a MBA in Psychology. Her late husband, Dr. H.T. (Tom) Martin and Lee were involved in the planning stages of University of West Florida and he was one of the founders.
Lee was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and served as President of the Chapter. She was also very active with the Escambia County Retired Teachers Association, numerous civic groups and the Lakeview Board of Directors holding many positions including President in 1993, as well as Human Rights Advocacy Committee for DCF locally and statewide.

Esther Lee Martin was a kind and loving soul and she always had a smile and a hug just for you. Many have described her as a ray of sunshine and would always let you know she loved you. Lee’s children, Michael and Lory Lee, the loves of her life, loved and attended to her until her death. She sends one more kiss, one more hug and one more “I love you” to everyone.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3200 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
