Layden Perry Hicks, Jr., 74, of Pace, Florida passed away at home on Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Layden was born in Hull, England on February 19, 1946 to Layden Hicks, USAF and Jean Roberts Hicks, RAF. He graduated from Maplesville High School, Maplesville, Alabama in 1964. He married Mary Lou Nutting in 1966. He joined the U. S. Navy in September 1964 and was stationed to Whiting Field, Milton, Florida. He then went to the USS Intrepid, CVS-11, where he made two cruises to Viet Nam. He joined the USNR (R), achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1983 and retired from the Military after 23 years of dedicated service. He is preceded in death by both parents and youngest sister, Cindy Lynn. Layden is survived by his wife, Mary Hicks of Pace; sons, Jim (Michelle) of Bellevue, Idaho, Mike (Devon Barker) of McCall, Idaho and David (Susanne) of Pensacola, Florida. He also leaves his sisters, Carol Atchison of Maplesville, Alabama and Pam Bishop of Birmingham, Alabama. A Committal Service will be held at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery. |
