![]() Marshall O. Carpenter Jr. (Marty), age 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born December 18, 1937 in Pensacola, Florida to Marshall and Florence (Pfankuch) Carpenter. Marty founded Carpenter’s Campers in 1964. He said it all began with one truck-camper, a prayer, a lot of enthusiasm for the great outdoors and a prediction that the recreational vehicle industry would become huge one day. Marty was known for his big and unique personality and left a positive impression with everyone he met. His favorite saying was, “I’m not a “cheapscape”, just a tightwad”. He was a born salesman and skilled real estate entrepreneur. He enjoyed cooking for his family, demonstrating skills learned at The Carpenter’s Restaurant, telling stories of his childhood adventures, RVing, and boating. Marty was a member of the Warrington Elks Lodge, various Yacht Clubs, and a Master Mason with the Ensley Masonic Lodge. Marty was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Glenn Carpenter and grandson, Joey Carpenter. He is survived by his three children, Mark (Tracey) Carpenter, Christina Carpenter, and Lara (David) Keefe; five grandchildren Brittany, Lindsey, Owen, Austin, and Collin Carpenter and two great-grandchildren, Joey and Alexander. Memorial service will be held on December 9, 2017 at 2:30pm at Transformation Church, 3150 West DeSoto Street, Pensacola, Florida 32505 with Pastor Dan Livingston officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Haven at Transformation Church. |
