![]() Mary Ann Hunter, 89, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Loyola University's St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. Mary Ann Hunter relocated to Pensacola and worked as a nursing instructor at Pensacola Junior College from 1978 thru 1990 as an Associate Professor. She developed courses in Fundamentals of Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Terminology, and Home Health. Volunteering was a priority in Mary Ann's life. She volunteered at Sightline reading the Pensacola News Journal to the blind on WSRE. She typed the church bulletin and read at services for many years at St. Anne Parish. Mary Ann taught non-readers at Laubach Literacy Action. She also volunteered at the Navy Hospital for a number of years. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents Edward Arendt and Marie Szpekowski. Left to cherish her memory include her children, Joseph E. Hunter, William F. (Donna) Hunter, Mary C. Hunter, Kaylynn A. Hunter and Mike B. (Dawn) Hunter and grandchildren Montana Hunter, Tyler R. Hunter, and Zachary R. Hunter. She also leaves behind one brother, Mike (Diane) Arendt as well as some dear life-long friendships, some lasting over seventy years. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 2860 Hwy. 297A, Cantonment, FL, 32533. |
