Sabra Miller Scoggins Pierce was born January 31, 1917 at Chapel Hill in Covington County, Alabama to Amon Francis Marion Miller and his wife Exa Magdalene Sallas. Sabra was the first of their nine children and outlived all but two of her siblings, passing on to her reward on February 5, 2018, just five days after her 101st birthday at her home at Bratt near Pensacola. She was the mother of six children, outliving all but two of them. After her family her next greatest loves were fishing and needlework. Her grandchildren were gifted with her quilts, embroidered pillow cases and other treasured items. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Wheeler of the Bratt Community; son, Austin (Betty Jo) Scoggins of River Fall, Alabama; daughters-in-law, Velma Scoggins of Salmon, Idaho and Brenda Scoggins of Kingman, Arizona; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 41 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild; her sister, Varis Blackmon of Chipley, Florida; brother, Ulysses Miller of Clarksville, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends scattered across the country. |
